Just burning around the Nurburgring Grand Prix circuit in all the different GT3's is fantastic fun. I decided to just setup my VR for hot lapping (adding AI has quite a detrimental effect of Frame Timing) so I have the graphics looking great on my Vive Pro with no stutter. I love it! There are cars in other sims I also find great and thoroughly enjoy (including AMS2), but I always navigate back to rf2. I have to say, there is something about rf2 and its FFB / handling that just clicks with me (there are exceptions of course).
I already had a couple of GT3's but the price of the pack meant I could top up the collection for far less money than individual car pricing. I bought the GT3 car pack being as it was half price for halloween. They seem to have really dropped the ball somehow.shame With the right vision, and a development plan, rF2 could be the standard by which other Sims are measured, but somehow they're just stumbling along without a plan. How about fixing all, or some of, the things that ARE broken? How about fixing some of the bugs that've been in the game since the beginning of time, like the full-course yellow joke, for example?Īnd how many more years is the UI going to be in beta? They have God knows enough things to do, without breaking something that wasn't even broken. They've managed to break something that wasn't even broken in the first place, what were they thinking? Why, just why? As if there weren't enough more urgent things to do. Nords is now a mess: the janky shadows and textures that chase after you down the track, what the f*ck is that all about? Didn't anybody beta test it? Till Studio397 ( or more likely if, I'm not holding my breath ), fixes it so that it's possible to drive with a full field in VR, I'll have to confine my 24hr endurance racing to tracks that they haven't broken yet, like LeMans, Sebring, Spa etc As soon as it's dark, my fps falls into a dark pit. I've decided to make a few compromises, and only race in daylight. Want to know how to get the best from the simulation? Head over to the RaceDepartment rF2 sub forum and open up a new thread today - let our epic community be your guide! RFactor 2 is available now exclusively on PC. AI: Reduced spinning in certain situations.Adjusted lower LODs (removed endurance light covers).Adjustments to aerodynamics to reduce excessive front lift.Studio 397 posted a FANTASTIC track guide in their news item which I won’t copy here. The only difference is it includes the Mercedes Arena section, making it a slightly longer layout with an extra challenge! The ‘Combined’ layout is a close cousin of the 24 Hours layout. Part technical, part old school, the 24 hours layout is the ultimate test of flexibility and skillful racing for anyone calling themselves an endurance driver! The modern and old clash, but co-exist in a way that gives this immense layout its unique character. Skipping only the Mercedes Arena section of the Grand Prix, it uses most of the two layouts. The layout starts on the Grand Prix circuit and then transtions to the North loop. The 24 Hours Nürburgring layout is 25km of grueling endurance.
Its iconic sharp first section of turns is a real test of braking mastery. The Grand Prix is a very technical track that requires acute timing and precision. The full Nordscheife loop is 20.8 km with a jaw-dropping 300 meters of elevation changes.Īmong modern, well-known tracks, this Grand Prix track, which was built in 1984 and used for Formula One up to 2013, remains a great venue for modern racing. The now almost ancient Nordschleife “North loop” dates back to the roaring 1920s! Meandering its way through the countryside and circling the medieval castle of Nürburg and its small village, the Ring’s roads and sharp curbs snake around the idyllic and bucolic Eifel landscape. rFactor 2 now has that layout, and also a few others… Located in the Eifel region of Germany, the Nurburgring Nordschleife first appeared in sim racing with the classic Grand Prix Legends. It is priced at USD $13.17, which seems quite reasonable to me, and can be purchased on Steam. Studio 397 today released their Nurburgring track DLC for rFactor 2.
